Presentation

May 19, 2008

Most people who make presentations might ask “How do I make a good presentation?” It really isn’t that hard. First, the speaker must practice speaking loud and clear. They must also make good eye contact and have good posture. The speaker might also want to add some intersting and fun things in their speech to grab the readers attention. Something funny is always acceptable.

Alana C.’s presentation was one example of a good presentation. She spoke very clearly, she had good eye contact, and her presentation had persontality. Jaydylee M.’s presentation was also good. She had good posture, eye contact, and tone. If every speaker had those qualities, they too could have a good presentation.

Goals

May 15, 2008

I had many goals during school and life. Some of them have changed, but some I still have faith in. I spend a lot of time thinking about the future and school. My goals are usually very important to me and others too. I always wish to accomplish them and I try my hardest.

My goals this school year was to maintain an average of a B+ to and A+. That goal was, in a way accomplished. For instance, I had a few B-’s, but I have never had a C or below. I was also told that I had a procrastination problem. I have been working hard on that by remebering to do things more.

My goal in life is to get a good education and be successful. I try by trying my hardest in school. I also want to change my character. I want to grow up with a good life, a good job, and more good friends. I will try my very hardest and hope to improve.

Goals can be easy to make, but they’re mostly hard to accomplish. I want to improve, so i will try and try and do something about it. I will dedicate my time to accomplish my goals. I will try to make a better me. I want this more than anything.

The key to success

Life at LPUMS was definatly an experience. It was fun, sweet, caring, horrible, great, saddening, awesome, funny, weird, lonely, crazy, insane, and wonderful all at the same time. It changed me in many different ways. For example, I was actually quiet in elementary, and I know most of my friends whould laugh at that. It seems as if that was 10 years ago.

There are very much differences between 6th and 8th grade. The biggest differences has to be my friends. In 6th grade I kept to myself and only had one bestfriend. But now, I have about 18 and I love them all very much! In 6th grade I actually hated anime, and now I love it. In 8th grade I am more mature, unlike 6th. In 6th grade I was dependent on others, now I am independent.

In 6th grade I was confused, and now I feel very at home. I was scared before, and now im opening the future with welcome hands. I was also lonely then, but now I’m happy. I was a completely different person back then, and I like who I am much more now.

I do think there are at least some similatrities between those years. Just recently I noticed that my favorite color is still dark purple. In 6th grade I had a special ambition, and I still have it. My friends are very important to me now, in the same fashion they were in 6th grade. I also still want to be a better person.

There were so many differences and few similartities, and that is usually best. I am very happy right now. I miss 6th grade, yes, but I would not want to go back. I wish I didn’t have to leave for highschool. 6th grade and 8th grade made LPUMS one of the best schools I’ve ever been to.

Daniel & Colin

April 9, 2008

Do you know Daniel or Colin? If not, that would be a pity. Daniel is funny and can always keep a conversation. Colin is kind and intelligent. They are both great friends. There are a whole lot of differences between Daniel and Colin. Daniel speaks his mind and is open, while Colin would rather be quiet. Their personality kind of matches their interests. Colin has 3 sisters and Daniel has 1 brother. Daniel’s favorite food is ramen… with lemon. On the other hand, Colin likes pizza. Colin’s favorite ice cream flavor is traditional chocolate, while Daniel likes more exotic Cotton Candy. Daniels favorite TV show is the ABC’s Greek, while Colin likes the anime Naruto. If Colin could go anywhere in the world, he’d visit Tokyo. On the contrary, Daniel would rather visit England.Strange as it is, they do have some similarities. They both enjoy anime. Colin likes video games; In the same fashion as Daniel. Daniel and Colin also have never been off island. They bothe were born on guam. Most importantly, they are both my friends. The truest similatiry is that they both don’t have that much similarities. That’s not all there is to them. They are much more interesting and complex. They have such unique character. They also are very awesome. So if you don’t know Daniel or Colin, you should get to know them. It will be worth it :) COlinColin

Cyber-bullying

April 1, 2008

I. Introduction
I think that cyberbullying is just wrong. I am saddened at the thought that some people let cyberbullies go. It hurts to know some people take it as far as pushing one person to suicide. Technology is growing and cyberbullying is too. I hope the government and anyone else notices how big this is, soon.

II. What is cyber-bullying?
Stated in wikipedia.com, Cyberbullying, in general, is when one person threatens or hurts another via internet. It is another form of bullying that more people are getting used too. It is one of the negativities in technology. It can serverly damage someones life. The worst part is that some people get away with it.

III. What are the effects of cyber-bullying?
There are many effects to cyberbullying. According to msncb.com, Cyberbullying can start rumors and some times lead to real fist fights. It hurts some people if they find something bad being posted all over websites, like myspace. lt even led some people like Megan Meier, to suicide. It is very powerful.

IV. How can cyber-bullying be prevented?
Cyber-bullying can be prevented by many ways. Accorting to Independent Educational Publishing Magazine, one way is not puting confidential information. You also shouldn’t gang-up on anyone online. Another way is by not crossing the online boundries. The most important one, probably, is not to be the cyber-bully.

V. Conclusion
The most interesting thing I learned is that some cyber-bullies are let go or they aren’t caught. It is sad know people who do such horrible things. Cyber-bullying should have major consequences. It should be stopped and it isn’t right. I hope, in the future, it all works out.

I decided to do my research project on “Sushi.” When researching my project, I used the simpliest method: Google.com. It is  very helpful and effective. It can show you many different websites that envlove the subject you’re searching for. It is probably the most popular search engine out there.

I found many interesting facts. I thought there were only two or three types of sushi, but there are many more. I learned that there are sushi shaped like spheres or squares. I also learned that sushi has beeen around for many thousands of years. Who would’ve thought sushi was once a way to preserve food?

There were only few difficulties, but none were major. One difficulty was that when I typed in “Sushi” I was redirected to recipes or resturaunts. Specifically typing “The History of Sushi” helped a lot. I also found that some of my sources weren’t that informing. They were all the same thing over and over again.

I think these handhelds are really effective to our class. They are very helpful and fun to use. I like the handhelds because they are a new way to do assignments. They are more technologic and advanced. I think they should be used in more schools or by more people. They really make tasks simpler. These introduce some new ways to do things. It helps familiarize people to new technology. It also is handy for many different things.

Recycling

March 10, 2008

What I, and most of my classmates, know is that recycling is good for and helps the environment. Some of my classmates know what can be recycled. Some know what’s bad about not recycling. Majority of them know it’s needed. At least we all know what it is.

There are many different things we all want to know.  I would like to know how recycling started. Few people used a rhetorical question like “Why don’t we do it more?” Some want to know what can be recycled. Few even want to know how the recycling process takes place.

What I learned is that there is a computer “city” that educates about recycling. I learned that you can recycle many other things besides paper. There are others ways to recycle, such as reuse and reduce. When you reuse something you use it once and instead of throwing it away, you can save it and uses it again. When you reduce something you use less of that thing so there is more for the next use.

My Resolutions for 2008

January 9, 2008

It is finally 2008. We’re one step closer to what we’re trying to achieve. I want to change many things and try to make this year even better than last year. 2007 was the best year of life so far. I can only wish that 2008 will be just as great.

The first, and probably the most important school wise, is to improve on my academic progress. This is the first time my report card performance was terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE! I take many things lightly and procrastinate, which isn’t healthy. I also take some of my time for granted. I have poor attention skills and tend to lose concentration easily. Lastly, I have a hard time keeping quiet. Some of my teachers told me it was very disappointing to see my grades sink so low, and I don’t blame them because I’m disappointed too. High school is fast approaching and I need to improve. I need to try harder and wake up to reality.

The second thing I need to improve on is my organization skills. I misplace things and lose them a lot. It takes me forever to find something, I think I’ve lost it, and its right there in my binder. I also have a hard time remembering where stuff is.

The last thing has got to be learning to finish things. Sometimes I start on a project that I really want to do, but then I stop. There are many things I need to finish; stories, drawings, plans, etc. Sometimes I have no time, and others I lose focus, I seem to do that a lot.

I feel it is important to work one every one of them because they could help me in the future. I know it won’t be easy, but this is something I need to put my whole life and soul into; something I have to work harder then ever to do. I’m the only one who can save me anyways.

Outsiders

January 7, 2008

Our class just recently watched the movie The Outsiders. It was very interesting and entertaining. It’s a story about about many different kids/teenagers, but mainly Ponyboy Curtis. Ponyboy is a greaser, or a kid of a lower class; not wealthy. The Greasers usually conflict with the Socs[Sow-shesh], who are kids of higher class; rich. He lives with his brothers, Darryl “Darry” and Sodapop. His best friend is a sixteen year old named Johnny.

Besides the occasional fight with the Socs, the greasers kept a fair distance; except foor the ones who were looking for a fight. One night, however, one greaser took it a little too far. Ponyboy finds himself on a run for his life. But was it his fault?! It is a story about bravery, friendship, and changing your fate. It’s very cool.
